PSL for Senatrix (Padme Amidala)
Apr. 1st, 2018 11:06 amObi-Wan made his way to the Senate from the Jedi Temple deep in thought. Though Anakin had been knighted, he and his former Padawan were still almost exclusively sent on missions together. They could read each other. They were dispatched on the most difficult and dangerous assignments. But now, Anakin had been sent to the Outer Rim to destroy a new droid foundry and Obi-Wan had been asked to go to the Senate to receive a top secret assignment.
The Senate. How he disliked politics and politicians. He had no stomach for the sort of games that civilian leadership demanded.
As he walked into the sprawling complex, he headed for the Chancellor's office, but was headed off by Bail Organa.
"Senator Organa," he greeted with a bow.
"Master Kenobi," Organa replied. "I'm the one you're here to meet." He made a sweeping gesture. "This way please. We've requested you specifically." He smirked a little. "I understand they call you 'The Negotiator'."
Obi-Wan's mouth flattened into a straight line. "I suppose there are worse things to be called." Though the truth was he did not enjoy the limelight of glory; Jedi were meant to work quietly for the good of the Republic, not for the thrills of fame and personal reputation. There were some things, however, that could not be avoided as the right hand of The Hero Without Fear.
"Some of us feel more progress can be made towards the end of this war through diplomacy," Organa told him. "We'd like you to put both your skills as a protector and your skills as a diplomat to use."
"I'm afraid I'm no diplomat," Obi-Wan told him with typical humility, "but I can certainly attempt to intervene if communications break down." He looked at Organa. "Who am I protecting?"
"Our own best negotiator," Organa said with a wry smile. A door opened to a private senate office and Obi-Wan noted Padme, stood near the window. "I believe you know Senator Amidala," Organa said.
Obi-Wan stepped inside the office and offered her a deep bow. "Senator," he greeted her mildly.
